First Trip to Sam's Club

So, one would think that a family of six (almost seven) would have been shopping bulk for years already. No, not us! But, I took the plunge this week! Jailyn and I went to Sam's Club for this first time! And boy did we have fun! Of course, Jailyn loved all the food tasting stops as we shopped! Some things she liked and some, not so much! Her favorite was the .67 ice cream - it was huge!!! I think we will go there just for an ice cream treat!!! :)
One should also not go to Sam's Club when hungry!!! :) Unless, you stop for a pretzel or hot dog!!! Love it!
We stayed for 1 1/2 hours, and forgot laundry detergent!! I was a bit overwhelmed!

I tried to get everything put away before the kids came home from school, but didn't get that done. Unfortunately, they saw everything and no that we have a box of 24 ding dongs, and 48 bags of mini oreo's!

Next week I have to re-arrange the pantry to fit everything! :)
Mom and Jay, hope this helps to cut down on the trips to the grocery store when you finally get to come!! :) No mid-night snacking on the boxes of food hidden in my closet though!

Giddy up Conner J!

I actually got to stay at the kid Halloween Party this year! :)
This was my costume - but Conner wanted to try it out! He is much cuter in it then me!

Pumpkin Carving!

Our Karate school had it's annual Halloween Party and pumpkin carving contest. The kids love this party and the pumpkin carving with Dad before the party! We lucked out that our soccer parties were over a few hours before the party, so they had plenty of time to carve away!
This was the end results!!
Kenzie's pumpkin won 1st place! (Conner won last year!)

Photos needed!

Hi y'all!
November is Adoption Awareness month!
I need your help! I am wanting to put together a slideshow/video for this next month for our church.
If you could share some of your adoption photos with me that would be great!
I am hoping to receive photos from international, domestic adoptions, foster families, and all ages!!!
There are too many orphans worldwide! I hope to spread the word and get people praying for these children
the beautiful people taking care of them, and the families that are called to become their forever families!
If you are willing to share your photos please email them to my personal account soccermom@tx.rr.com.

Thanks so much!!!

Happy Fall Y'all!

We had a fun time at the pumpkin patch yesterday! Jailyn brought her friend K with us and we met up with our friends from church. We had a great time! Last year was Jailyn's first visit to the patch - but this year was much more fun! She is growing up so fast!
As we were getting ready to leave all Jailyn could think about was calling her Mimi to tell her all about the Pumpkins!!!

Enjoy the photos!
Have a great day! We are now at Day 92 waiting for word from China! Waiting but never giving up hope that one day soon we will holding our little girl, and never letting her go!!!

My friend Amy tagged me. I am sooo bad at these! I don't know any weird or interesting traits that I have. I think I am pretty normal - but here I go:

1.) My dream car is a 15 passenger van! This van would give me the ability to take my family and their friends to different events. We always seem to have more kids come with us, where ever we go. We love this, but would love to be able to ride together, presently we usually take two cars.

2.) Though I live in Texas I hate wearing shorts! Maybe if I lost 20 lbs I would feel differently! :)

3.) Like Amy, I can touch my nose with my tongue. (Conner can flip his tongue over)

4.) I "snort" when I laugh.

5.) I love roller coasters! My favorite ride at Universal Studios is "The Hulk"!!!

6.) I love to get up in the morning and check on all my blogging friends!

7.) I wish I could speak Sign Language fluently. I have taken some classes but if I'm not using it daily I forget signs.

Hope this sheds some light on who I am!
Have a great day!

Great Christmas gifts!!

If anyone is thinking of getting me a christmas gift this is what I want!!!!

Did you know what a difference donating one chick can make to a country in Africa?
One hen lays more than 200 eggs a year!
Eggs are an excellent source of protein, vitamins A and E, Flate and Iron!
Chickens scratch up soil and fertilize it with droppings!
Each Chicken only costs $1.25- $2.20!
or
a Goat!
A single goat can produce literally one ton of milk each year!
More children around the world drink goats milk then cows milk!
The cost of a goat? $32 - $48!!!
And to go with this!
50 Bibles can be purchased and sent to African villages for $75!!!

Movie Night

I have two friends (a couple from church) who are working with a ministry helping the victims of human trafficing. Their stories are seem so unreal, but I know they are true. Human trafficing is the third most lucrative trafficing - guns and drugs are first and second. Human trafficing is growing in every country and becoming more lucrative. This is slavery!! Girls and Boys are tied up in brothels unable to leave! Some families have been paying off "debts" to their owners for four generations.
In many countries, orphans are prime victims for this slavery!

Another friend and I met our friends downtown to see the new movie Call + Response. It was a very good movie. It is kind of an Awareness Concert and documentary all together. It was very informative and eye opening. If it is showing near you, I suggest you go see it. It's not a feel good movie but hopefully it will move all of us to respond and do something!

My heart is sooo heavy with this news!! And my eyes are over flowing with tears!

Some of you may remember this little boy that I posted on Jailyn's blog last December. His name is Zhang Qi or QiQi we called him. He was rescued from the orphanage and brought to the Siping Foster Care Center. The center loved and cared for QiQi! They fed him and did everything they could for him!
When he was healthy enough to return to the orphanage he did. The Siping Foster Care Center felt every confidence that he was strong enough and that the orphanage staff would take good care of him.

Hannah, from Siping, recently asked the orphanage director how he was doing. As she knew he was at the orphanage but had not seen him. Hannah was told that he was not doing well. He has cleft lip and just took too long to eat. The staff didn't have time to care for him. QiQi was starving to death again.
Hannah, immediately received permission to bring QiQi back to Siping for care. The nannies at Siping took care of him and loved him with all the love they could give! By May, he had put on enough weight that he could have his cleft lip repaired. But, then he began having seizures. Some so intense that he would stop breathing for a while. He had fluid on his brain but not enough to require a shunt. Medications slowed the seizures and everyone waited and watched as QiQi seemed to get better.
On October 9th, he began having seizures with a fever. By the 11th, the fever continued, even with the medication he had six seizures that day. On the 12th, the fever continued. And on Oct 13th, the seizures began again and little QiQi passed away at 10:00.
The nannies said that he never smiled on his own. But, I trust that Jesus is holding QiQi and he is smiling in the arms of Jesus!
Love you QiQi and praying for your Nannies at Siping who miss you dearly!

And, thank you to God for giving Jailyn nannies who cared for her and took the time to feed her and hold her for the first 16 months of her life!

The Purple Highlighter!

I love my "day timer"! I am a list person and can't be responsible to remember anything if the event or assignment is not written down in my day timer! To help me keep organized I find it easier to fill in the next weeks events on Sunday night.
Sunday night consists of making school lunches for the week, finishing laundry for the week, and making sure my weekly calendar is filled in!
With this I also have each child assigned a color - I highlight the activity in that color!
Brady - blue
Kenzie - green
Conner - yellow
Jailyn - pink
myself - orange
Bryan - has no color, he has to be on his own to keep his own calendar!

Today, Jailyn and I picked up another color highlighter!
Purple!
Jorja will be purple! Hopefully, she will be happy with the color we chose for her!
Come on LOA!

Day 81 and...

Nothing! Nothing at all!
I am trying to be patient - but not doing a very good job at it!!!

Good news though - I was on face book and found two old friends!
That is always fun! And they remembered me! So fun getting in touch with
old friends!

Also, a new friend and I are in the praying stage of a new venture!
Please pray with us - we see God opening doors and want to this to be in His time!
No, I'm not going to spill the beans of what the "venture" is - it does have to do with
adoption, and something I have kicked around in my head, and prayers for a few years. God has brought more people in my life with the same vision. It's so exciting watching God work!

Have a great day!
I hope to be able to share our LOA news with y'all soon!

Day 79!!!

Okay - so here we sit waiting!! Lately, the wait between LID (Our Dossier is logged into China) and the LOA (Letter of Acceptance), a letter we have to sign again to agree once more that we want to adopt Jorja, is 81 days. Today we are at 79 days! We are hoping and praying that we will hear something this week! I will be sitting by the phone all week!

More first's for Jailyn!

Jailyn thinks that being 3 is cool!
Our social butterfly is loving being 3!
For her birthday all she wanted was a bike!!! She was so excited and is still learning how to ride it but she will catch on soon enough! And will be zooming through the neighborhood!

Jailyn loved her birthday "cake". We made an Elmo ice cream cake! She was so happy to blow out her 3 candles and dig into her ice cream!
(for some reason I am having a hard time getting these photos up - will do ASAP!)

The day after Jailyn's birthday she was so excited to finally use her backpack for school! She is going to a special speech pre-school through our school district. It is an awesome program (Conner went there for a year). We are sooo happy with her teacher and aide! They are great! And of course, Jailyn walked into the classroom and wanted to know everyone's names!

After school, lunch and nap - Jailyn got ready for her first karate class!! Oh, she loved this!!! She has waited sooo long to get on the karate mat!!! When class was over, she ran to me and said, "I want to do more." I'm so glad she liked it! And so glad that she is learning how to stand in one place and learn self-control! (She is a bit ADHD ya know! -Like her big brother!)

Not me Monday!

I read a post this blog last week and thought it was so funny that I thought I would participate this week! I don't personally know McMama, but have been following her blog for a while and praying for their family! Check her blog out too! www.mycharmingkids.net

I did NOT let Jailyn have ice cream for breakfast.
I did NOT hide behind Jailyn at a soccer game eating a bag of chips so that I didn't have to share!!
I did NOT run away and hush everyone in the house because there was a boy scout ringing the door bell - selling popcorn.
I do NOT check my computer inbox every 30 minutes hoping for word from our adoption agency on our precious Jorja!
