The other day I was at the bank with Jorja and Jailyn.
Our bank tellers are more like friends then bank tellers.
They have been our #1 notaries for all 4 adoptions -
they have followed our journeys for five years now.
They have celebrated with us when we bring in deposits
from our fundraisers!
They celebrate with us as adoption fees are paid off
and they are one of the first stops we have to make on our return
home with our children -
so they can meet them face to face.
Well, the other day we went in to bring another deposit from
$427 in coins!
Way to help us bring your brothers home Brady!
It took us a while to get the deposit finished so Jorja and Jailyn made themselves comfortable saying hi to all the bank officers at their desks.
One lady came out of her office to chat with me.
She said the girls were bragging on their new little brothers that will
be coming home soon.
As we (myself and the bank tellers) filled her in on our adoption process -
she asked where the boys were from -
"Ethiopia"
She got a strange look on her face
and then
moved her lips questioning,
"they are black?"
"Yes" I said.
She began to realize how silly her question was,
and the tellers supported me with sweet comments like -
"Red and yellow, black and white all are precious in His sight."
I hope no one tells Donovan and Elijah that his parents are white!
Course, they may already realize that too!
And they seem to be okay with it!

LOL! That is so funny, cute, adorable and wonderful. Keep shining the light of God’s love for the WORLD!
That made me laugh too. Almost as much as my grandfather (whose mind isn't always there literally) when he asked us "Did you happen to see any blacks when you were in Ethioia?" OH MY WORD. The things people say. At least you handled it gracefully - I pray that I am able to do that, but it's going to have to be a God thing - I tend to say the wrong thing at the wrong time. ;0)
and yes, Papa knows his great-granddaughter is black - I think he was just having an off day (I hope)
Wow. It's amazing what in inappropriate phrases we've learned over the years. I pray that our children have a different perspective.
I LOVE that your family is multi-racial, and I love teaching my boys about adoption...and how God has adopted us because He loves us! Thanks for sharing this!
