Moments like these

My baby is so precious,
and sweet.

He is silly
and funny.

He is stubborn
and controlling.

 He is strong
and wants to take care of himself.

But thank God for moments
like these -

when he comes to me and
wants me,
and
allows me to hold him,
allows me to comfort him,
allows me to be his mommy.

I am so grateful for moments like these,
when he isn't fighting me.

Through the actions of my baby -
I sit back and examine my own actions.

Why do I fight my God?
Why would I ever think I can do anything on my own?

Job 38
"Where were you when I laid the
earth's foundations?
Tell me, if you understand.
Who marked off it's dimensions?...

Can you bind the beautiful Pleiades?
Can you loose the cords of Orion?
Can you bring forth the constellations
in their seasons
or lead out the Bear with its cubs?..."

How mighty is my God!

I've had so many moments like this watching my kids grow (now 24 and 21)...the first I remember like it was yesterday. I was holding a fussy 7 mo old, and she finally calmed in my arms. I remember thinking, some day you will look at me and tell me you love me. Whoever you are, whoever you become, I just want you to love and be loved...to know love. And that was a lightbulb moment for me in my own relationship with God. Beautiful post & wonderful blog!

our last adoption has helped me understand these same truths that you wrote about in this post.
