Our children were given a paper bag and asked to
to crumple it up,
and really mess it up but
do NOT rip it.
Then they straightened out the bag,
and iron out the wrinkles.
Though they worked hard to smooth it out,
we noticed how scarred the bag still was.
We made the bags into self portrait puppets.
And discussed how scars from our past will
always be there -
scars from others hurt our hearts.
How we hurt each other with our words,
and actions.
But, we are family and we will work through
those hurts,
and help make the scars a bit more bearable!
My babies come from worlds where they have been hurt so
deeply these scars will never go away.
But, thank God they can heal
and learn how to love others -

This is a beautiful exercise. Chris uses this in his schools when teaching bully behavior, spreading rumors..etc. Beautiful pics of your kiddos.
Love this!
a great life lesson
I've seen this idea floating around a good bit lately. Think I'm going to pass it along to my daughter's teacher...might help with some of the bullying that has been going on lately. Lovely pictures of everyone working on the activity!
I am so using this with G. We all need the reminder!!
