A trip to the grocery store...

while grocery shopping with 4 little ones
(usually I have at least one big kid with me-
but not this time.)
and after 4 trips to the restroom,
even though every time someone had to go,
I made sure everyone went...

While trying to get through the bread aisle,
we're all feeling anxious as we know
we are almost done!

  We waited behind a couple,
and their cart as we tried to get through the aisle.

They moved aside as soon as they saw us, no biggie -
though I'm surprised they didn't hear us coming

They apologized for taking up the aisle,
"No problem!" seriously,
we were all in good modes again
and the kids were excited to be able to get to the next aisle and
weigh veggies.
(a highlight of all grocery shopping trips)

As we continued filling our cart,
and weighing veggies -
the gentleman from the previous aisle came back to us.

He came back to give me a hug.
It was kinda weird,
but kinda sweet.
He told me that he was a police officer and he sees kids
who hurt and who are left unloved all the time.

He just wanted to say "thank you".
It was sweet.
I told him how blessed we are by being allowed to be their parents.

He agreed but wanted to say
"thank you".

I know that we get lots of crazy looks and crazy comments
from friends,
so once in a while it is nice for strangers to go out of their way
and say thank you.
