Our Journey to Jorja Noelle: Part I

It's been a while since I shared an adoption story - so I thought it was about time.
Our journey to Jorja began when we were in China meeting Jailyn.

We met a few families while in Nanjing,
and one of those families were adopting a little girl who was 4 years old.

As we watched this family bond,
Bryan said, "maybe we could do an older child."

And that's how it began.

A year later from the time we were approved to adopt Jailyn,
we saw this beautiful face.

And her huge smile!

We didn't ask for her file right a way,
as she was already ON HOLD  with other families looking at her paperwork.
So we just prayed for this little girl our agency named "Joy".

A few months later -
she still had not been matched.

We finally asked for to view her file.

We couldn't find anything in it that scared us off.
Another family was still looking at her file and
had another week to look her over.

December 26th, 2008,
we received a phone call from our agency.
We couldn't believe Karla was in the office the day after Christmas!
She said she had stopped by the office really quick and looked at her emails,
the other family said, "No, she isn't our daughter."

So Karla called us immediately,
and we said,
"Yes!"
and began our working to get our Jorja Noelle home!
(we had to give her a Christmas name - don't you think?)

...to be continued with highlights from more of our journey.

We have a very similar story. Our Josie's file was with another family. I didn't want to get my hopes up, but I just felt she was meant to be with us. When they released her file and we were able to proceed, we found out that they had to release her because they hadn't been home for a year from a previous adoption. We were worried it had to do with her complex heart condition. We've continued to remain close with this family. God certainly works in mysterious ways.

Love your Jorja Noelle story!!
