A priviledge

A few weeks ago we were at the local Chick-fil-A
supporting a fund raiser for our Youth Group.
The kids were excited all day to go to Chick-fil-A for lunch,
and honestly, so was Mom!
We were able to meet up with some friends
from church and had a nice lunch.
But that is really not the reason for this story.

As we ordered our lunch,
the teenage cashier who helped us was incredibly polite.
He was sweet when he couldn't understand Jailyn and Jorja's order,
he was patient when Conner changed his order -
and at the end of placing our order, he handed us our drinks,
I said, "Thank you."
and he responded,
"It's a priviledge."
I was taken back for a moment -
I don't hear that from teenagers around here.

Then, the table we needed to sit at was a bit dirty,
so I asked him for a towel - I can wipe it down.
"Oh, no.  It's a priviledge, I'd be glad to do that for you."
Again... I'm speechless.

Then our food was ready, and again, I thanked him -
and again,

"It's a priviledge."

It almost was getting a bit old,
but I as amazed at the sincerity of his responses.
As I waited from my friend,
and the kids began to eat,
I was able to think about this boys response.

Do I say "it's a priviledge" enough in my life?
Do I have that kind of attitude?
What is my attitude when I can't get
anything done because the kids "needs" take priority?
Or when I have to run to the grocery store AGAIN!
or - there is a load of laundry that didn't seem to make
it to the laundry room on laundry day.

I know what my attitude should be, God's scripture says,
"Be thankful in all circumstances,
for this is God's will for you who belong to Christ Jesus."
 I Thessalonians 5:18

It is a priviledge that I am a child of the King.
Not because of anything that I have done.
I can never say that I have "earned" the right to boast of
my own doings,
but by the Grace of God,
and the price Christ paid for me,
I can live a life and have the attitude of

"It's a priviledge."
to serve my family and my God!

Philippians 2:5-8
Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus:
Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God
something to be grasped,
but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being
made in human likeness.
And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became
obedient to death-- even death on a cross!
