We are Truly Blessed

We are thankful for so many blessings
this year.
As Brady gets older, he's a Junior now,
I wonder how many more Thanksgivings we will
have him home for.
So we are enjoying this family time together!

I can hear my kids laughing now -
We have been enjoying our time
rearranging our house
and bedrooms
for the arrival of
Donovan and Elijah!
(yes, we finally decided on names!
we will keep their Ethiopian names as
their middle names.
This way they can decide which name they would like
to use.)

We will be having a casual day today,
playing board games,
watching football,
and just enjoying each other.

But, there always seems to a dark cloud over
our home.
The fact that soooo many children
will be sad today,
including our Donovan and Elijah.
We can't wait to celebrate Thanksgiving with them
next year.

We are truly blessed!

To continue with our list of
10 ways to help the Orphan and Waiting Child,
we have #8

8) Encourage them to press on!
1 Thessalonians 5:14
We urge you, brethren, admonish the unruly, encourage
the fainthearted, help the weak, be patient with
everyone.

Sponsor a child!
But, remember monthly financial support
is the easy part.
Remember to send them letters,
and try to go on a mission trip to visit them!

Or,

Become a mentor to a child in a foster group home.
The time you take to
encourage a child could change
the world for them!

I'm not really sure your boys are "sad" today. They may be better off in your family (I agree 100%) but sad? Thanksgiving is a US holiday. We didn't celebrate it in Germany. They aren't missing it in Ethiopia either. I'm glad your boys are not really alone. They have each other! I hope they are being cared for by people that really love them. You will be opening many doors to them, and blessing them with a great family. I do hope you also realize they will be losing their home country. It is all they know. It's not a matter of leaving the bad and going to the good. But I'm 100% on your side. All kids need families! An orphanage is no family! I'm not sure how much you know about Ethiopia? Maybe you can share more about the country the boys come from. It's pretty important you love and respect their country. It will be so important to them you loved Ethiopia and can speak well of it! My son Thomas was 7 years old when he was adopted from Thailand. He wanted to totally reject Thailand, and fit in. He wanted to have his hair colored blond. We had our work cut out for us. But a healthy since of national pride is very good for you. People must feel good about where they came from…and be able to feel comfortable with their story! This is super important especially for boys.
