Radical

I never saw myself blogging about a book.
I admit, I am not a reader.
I just don't have the time.
Unlike others in my family,
I can not shut everything out and get lost in a book -
maybe I'm a bit ADHD.

So, prior to vacation I purchased a few books
that I have been meaning to read.
This book is the first that I read,
while Brady drove 10 of the 14 hours
to Colorado.
(Oh it's nice to have a second driver!)

An amazing. convicting book written by David Platt!

It is only 240 pages,
but I cried through every page!

Being convicted by the Holy Spirit that I am
not being radical for Christ,
like He asks me to be.

I am living the American dream,
I have a clean home,
I have plenty of clothes to choose from each day,
My kids have full closets and
full bellies.
My pantry is full...

For all of this I am incredibly thankful,
but am I missing God's calling to be radical?
Romans 12:2
Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world,
but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.
Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is—
his good, pleasing and perfect will.

Am I wrapped up in my daily life
and busy activities that I am not taking the time
to ask God what He is truly asking of me?

Where does God want me to serve?
As I read the book,
my mind raced to many people whom I have known,
or heard about.
And their examples of how God has asked them radical
things - and they have followed,
no questions asked!
I am incredibly thankful for their Godly example in my life!

I recommend this book to all Christians!
It is a hard one to swollow,
but one I believe we need to read.
It is NOT a feel good book,

it will make you think,

it will make you get into God's word,

it will make you get down on your knees,

and humble your self before the Lord.

David Platt puts it plan and simple
where the American church has failed,
and what we need to do to get right with God
and get
RADICAL

I am ready to read through it again -
and get on with the
Radical Experiment!

Luke 5:11
So they pulled their boats up on shore,
left everything and followed him.

I have heard so many great things about this book - guess I need to go get it, huh? :)

PS: From what I hear, everyone needs to read this book not just Christians!

I've just started the book and am already convicted! I want to be so in love with Christ that I am not afraid to follow Him wherever He leads.

I just put a quote from him on my blog. I didn't even realize it was a book!

I have just recently read this book!

It is life changing and for me,it was very convicting!!

My husband is reading it now...can't wait to see how he is affected...then, I plan on reading it again!!!

I highly recommend this book to anyone!! I just love how David Platt writes...he is so sincere and not at all 'in your face' kind of a guy.

I really want to make my life less complicated so I can be more focused on Jesus and what He wants of me!
