The agency helped us through the technical/legal/political/regulatory hurdles, but true support came from other families that had been through or were going through the process of adoption.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1353178627219781934.post-62716698431890159372011-12-12T05:31:30.606-08:002011-12-12T05:31:30.606-08:00Definitely have some great friends around us- adop...Definitely have some great friends around us- adoptive and non-adoptive friends. But the online world has been incredible too (sometimes it gets to be too much and it doesn't feel helpful anymore, but for the most part, it's great). I love having friends around the country that I've never met, but consider good friends!:) AmyAmyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13849978682692393392noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1353178627219781934.post-13087251520066763142011-12-12T05:00:26.341-08:002011-12-12T05:00:26.341-08:00When we were adopting we had friends who had done ...When we were adopting we had friends who had done it the year before, exactly the same way and they were our encouragement.

In later years when we had serious teen and further troubles, it was much harder to find support. (This wasn't related to adoption... or was it?) We searched far and wide and finally found support in friends from a church 1000 miles away. Thank goodness for phones and email! More recently we've found support in this closer to home as well.Sharonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18174625682290311034noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1353178627219781934.post-1950728492341625272011-12-12T04:48:37.980-08:002011-12-12T04:48:37.980-08:00I live in a small town and don't have family n...I live in a small town and don't have family nearby. My biggest support came from the IAN Facebook group and a girlfriend. The IAN FB group is so awesome. I learned so many things from them, traveled with some of them and they are so encouraging. I would have never thought FB would help so much with adoption, lol.
