"Is adoption hard?"

This is a question that we get asked often.
But, it is a hard question to answer.

What are they really asking?

Is the paperwork hard?
yes, it's a pain to get everything together
in the correct order and time frame.

But,
is it harder then a child who feels the pain of starvation?
or
the loneliness of having to rock himself in his crib.

OR
are they asking
Are the adoption fee's hard to come up with?

Yes, but God is faithful.
I have heard a lot of adoption stories, never have I
heard people having to pull out because of financial reasons.

OR
are they asking
Adding another child to your family -
how do the dynamics change your family?
Dynamics do change,
and change can be difficult,
but that doesn't mean it is bad.
Change can be good!

OR
Is the wait hard?
Yes, Yes!!!
This is very difficult,
but it does give new parents the opportunity
to educate themselves more on what an
orphan child has been through,
and how to parent their child.

But,
The most difficult part of adoption for me,
is the loneliness.
When people think you are crazy for adding another
person to your family,
and they either speak their unsupportive opinions.
or they ignore the fact that another child
is coming home.
But,
though it's lonely -
it's okay.
Sitting in an orphanage or on dirt roads,
is much more lonely
and hopeless.
If we can give hope to one more child
we will.

And I love meeting friends that feel the same,
and their actions show that!
Praying that more people will take a leap of
faith and become a father to the fatherless,
and that people will be supportive
of those who are.

Amen!!!

Loving a child should not be that threatening to others.
